Kiwanis Club of Dayton Township members are more than just donors — we are hands-on volunteers who give our time to make a difference. Recently, our members helped with the cleanup of Old Town Dayton, working together to clear and improve our community. Supporting Dayton means more than writing a check; it means showing up, pitching in, and helping where it’s needed most.
We were so glad to help Sunny’s Cafe with their Secret Santa Project! We donated boxes of toys, along with 3 bicycles and helmets (courtesy of the Kiwanis Club of Downtown Sparks) to two families on Sunny’s list! We LOVE playing Secret Santa!!
Small Town Christmas
Our Kiwanis Club participates in the Dayton Chamber of Commerce Small Town Christmas each year, handing out hot cocoa and cookies to everyone! Small Town Christmas is usually the first Saturday in December at Our Park – 215 Highway 50. Come watch the town Christmas tree lit, visit with the Grinch, and get your picture taken with Santa Claus!
Trunk Or Treat
Our Kiwanis Club participates in the Lyon County Library Trunk or Treat each year. It is held in the Library parking lot – 321 Dayton Valley Rd. Visit their calendar page for more details. We usually hand out candy, but every year is different.
Take A Book-Leave A Book
Our Kiwanis Club is implementing Little Free Libraries around the Dayton Area, with a focus on youth. We encourage our young residents to participate in reading! Libraries will be monitored for appropriate content by our club members. We currently have library boxes at the Grocery Outlet – 7 Dayton Village Pkwy, The Comfort House in Silver Springs, The Lighthouse Church – 1550 Ramsey Weeks Cutoff in Silver Springs and Dayton Valley Golf Course – 101 Palmer Dr.
Comfort House
We support the Comfort House of Lyon County by volunteering at their fundraising events, and by donating to the organization. The Comfort House is a Lyon County organization that is an emergency shelter and foster home for up to 10 school aged children (ages five through eighteen), at any given time. They are a 501(c)3 organization that receives no state or federal funding.
Our Key Club at the Dayton High School has been reinstated. Key Club is a satellite club of Kiwanis, and our club is their sponsor. They do their own fundraising and community service, and assist us with ours. If you are interested in joining Key Club, please contact Carolyn McConnell-Conseur at (775)246-6240 or [email protected]. Or, check out their website at DHS Key Club.
